About Google Analytics

Google Analytics is Google's website analytics platform, used to measure traffic, pageviews, bounce rate, and session duration. With Accelevents, you can add Google Analytics (GA4) to your event website to track overall site performance, and optionally add a tracking script to monitor registrations completed through an embedded ticket widget.

How the integration works

Google Analytics tracking is added to your event site by pasting your GA4 Google tag into the Header Script field under Event Design > Event Website > Settings. Once installed, GA4 begins collecting standard site traffic data immediately.

If you have the ticket widget embedded on an external website and want to track registrations specifically (not just page views), Accelevents provides a set of custom events you can wire into a small tracking script alongside your Google tag.

Integration Features:

  • Track site-wide traffic: Once your GA4 Google tag is installed, standard traffic, pageview, bounce rate, and session duration data is available in your GA4 property.
  • Track ticket widget registration starts: An AE_REGISTRATION_STARTED event fires when the ticket widget loads on the page.
  • Track completed registrations: An AE_REGISTRATION_COMPLETE event fires when a purchase is completed through the widget.
  • Track abandoned and failed registrations: AE_REGISTRATION_TIMED_OUT fires when the registration timer runs out, and AE_REGISTRATION_FAILED fires when a payment attempt fails. Both are useful for diagnosing checkout drop-off.
  • Capture campaign attribution: UTM parameters (source, medium, campaign, term, content) are read from the page URL and passed along with each registration event, so you can attribute registrations back to specific campaigns.

Setup requires creating a GA4 property and data stream in Google Analytics, then pasting the generated Google tag into your event website's Header Script. Ticket widget event tracking requires an additional script, provided in the setup guide.

FAQs

What does the Google Analytics integration track on my Accelevents event?

Once you install the GA4 Google tag on your event website, you get standard site analytics: traffic, pageviews, bounce rate, and session duration. If you also embed the ticket widget tracking script, you can see registration starts, completions, timeouts, and failures as distinct events.

Does Accelevents support GA4?

Yes. The current integration is built for Google Analytics 4 (GA4) properties and data streams.

How do I add Google Analytics to my Accelevents event website?

Create a GA4 property and data stream in Google Analytics, copy the generated Google tag, then go to Event Design > Event Website > Settings in Accelevents and paste it into the Header Script field.

Do I need Google Tag Manager for this integration?

No. This integration uses the GA4 Google tag (gtag.js) pasted directly into your event website's Header Script, not a Google Tag Manager container. If you're already using GTM elsewhere, you can still add the GA4 tag directly without conflict.

Can I track ticket widget registrations, not just page views?

Yes. If you have the ticket widget embedded on an external website, Accelevents provides a tracking script that sends registration-specific events to Google Analytics, separate from standard pageview tracking.

What events does the ticket widget tracking script send to Google Analytics?

Four events: AE_REGISTRATION_STARTED when the widget loads, AE_REGISTRATION_COMPLETE when a purchase finishes, AE_REGISTRATION_TIMED_OUT when the registration timer expires, and AE_REGISTRATION_FAILED when a payment attempt fails.

Where do I see this data in Google Analytics?

Standard traffic data appears in your normal GA4 reports. Ticket widget events can be verified in real time under Reports > Realtime Overview in your GA4 property.
